Rasta Gyals (unfinished)

Image
Hey everyone, I know it's been forever since I've posted a blog but i'm back! I haven't really been feeling school that's why y'all probably heard from me. This week i decided to dedicate this piece to my lovely friends, Beina, Desire, Shateira, and Christelle. Our group chat is called "Rasta Gyals 2.0" hence the image i drew. I sketched out in bubble letters the words and free handed the Rasta girl on the left. I got bored and chose to add color by using water color markers. Something that went really well about this project was sketching out the Rasta girl without copying an image like i usually do. Also, writing out the bubble letters was easy too and came out looking alright. My friends said they liked the piece when i showed them it. Overall, this whole project went really well because it was simple enough. One part that was definitely a struggle was staying in the lines while coloring with the markers. I feel since the markers were so thick

Portraits of Southie Kids

Hello my amazing viewers, sorry I was extremely sick and haven't been updating my blog for y'all but I'M BACKS GUYS!!! This week I decided to take photos of some of my pals at Excel High School, with their permission of course. I would come into their class and either have them pose or act like they was doing something. I was able to take the pictures of one of the Nixon cameras that my instructor, Amy provided for me. I wasn't able to edit them yet because I'm not that professional yet. Something that went really well in this project was being able to take multiple photos with and without flash. I liked how some of the pictures came out and so did my test subjects. I also liked how I was able to zoom and focus on the camera to get a more closer and accurate photo. One part of this project that was a struggle was trying to take pictures of moving objects. I tried using the sports frame but it had the photos come out so unclear. Also, at times I struggled to get

Black Girls (unfinished)

Good morning or good afternoon or good night, whatever time y'all are reading this week's blog. Welcome back, don't forget to subscribe to my blog posts so you can keep up on the newest and coolest art pieces at Excel High. Anyways, this week I decided to focus on the beauty of being a black woman, as myself. In the picture below, I've sketched out from GOOGLE, 3 photos of what I do on a daily basis. I got a white piece of paper, a pencil, and this piece of equipment that allows you to reflect what's on the computer screen to the table. I plan on adding color to it, with color pencils and simply shading it in.  Something about this project that went really well this week was being able to quickly find my images and sketch them onto the piece of paper. I don't usually copy other people's work but this week I needed a little inspiration. I also enjoyed using that new piece of technology that Room 13 provided for us, I never seen such thing. One part o

Chalk Tingz (finished)

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog. This is a very late blog post because my instructor of Room 13 was not clear at all what she wanted us to do while she was absent for the past couple days... BUT ANYWAYS, I don't really feel that well today so I'm going to keep this post very short and straight to the point. This week I've created two chalk pieces. I wanted to use a new medium so chalk stuck out to me. I used black paper instead of regular printer paper so we could see the bright chalk color. I simply rubbed the chalk on it's side so I could get a nice vibrant color. Something that went really well this week was being able to outline my fruit in both pieces with chalk instead of pencil. You can see in the apple piece (left) the apple really stands out, from the apple itself to the leaf hanging onto the stem. I really liked using the chalk because it was easy to apply and blend in with my fingers/hands. One part of this week's pieces that was a struggle was

Sunsets Everywhere (Finished)

Hey party people, welcome back to my fabulous blog. We are now in week 8, and this week I've decided to focus on something relaxing again like last week with the flowers. BUT INSTEAD WITH SUNSETS. In all three of the pieces, I’ve used crayons to get a wax-y look for sunsets. I simply rubbed the sides of the crayon to get the pattern and color. I used regular printer paper for my masterpieces. Something that went really well during these was finding the perfect shades of crayons to use. I really like how they came out the way I pictured them in my head and I’m proud of myself. I would definitely do more crayon pieces in the future, so stay tuned. One part of these pieces that was a struggle was definitely blending the crayon colors with the others. The pieces look like the colors are separated instead of blending together to give that sky look. I just because wax doesn’t really blend the way paint or another medium would’ve. I believe I did really well in class this week. I c

Welcome back Briana the Barbie's weekly blog, I know it's been a long while since I've posted about one of my beautiful creations but now I am back at it and no more waiting. This week I've started a piece of a garden of flowers. I chose flowers simply because I love flowers and when I'm mad they calm me down. First, I picked out of wooden canvas and used a brand new saw that Room 13 got. Once I got the perfect size, I picked up a pencil and started to sketch all sizes and types of flowers.  Something about this project that went really well was using the new saw. I definitely liked the new saw better instead of the old saw because it was way more easier to use. And I didn't need my teacher's, Amy, help that much. One part of the project that was a struggle was drawing different types of flowers. I only know how to sketch tulips and the little white garnish flowers that they be putting on the corsage for girls for prom. Also, I would say making the

Art Analysis (11/8/17) 3

The Son of Man Made by René Magritte The title of the painting is called “The Son of Man”, the artist that produced this painting was René Magritte. The artist was born in Lessines, Belgium. He died in Belgium in 1967. He has been producing artwork since 1915. Some of his other popular artwork are “Golconda”, “The Human Condition”, and “On the Threshold of Liberty”. The painting is currently installed in a private collection. I don’t believe people can still see it to this day, probably was allowed during a certain period of time. The painting has not been displayed in more than one place. This piece of art is visual art. This painting was painted with oil paint on a canvas. The theme of this painting I believe is opening up. In this painting, I see a man dressed up with an apple covering his face. The artwork sort of makes it difficult to understand the theme. The theme could’ve been conveyed better by having more detail in the painting. Something I’ve experienced in connec
